Take time for self-care this Christmas with our ‘Look after yourself Christmas gift guide’

I’m a sucker for putting myself at the bottom of the Christmas list. I’m always the first out of bed and the last to stop working at night. If I’m not running myself ragged with work I’m ferrying around three lovely children with a better social life than I will ever have!

Many friends of mine behave the same – with me-time coming when all else is done (and well all know that this never happens right?). One of my very best friends started to buy herself a small gift each year. She wraps it beautifully, ties it with a special ribbon and pops it under the Christmas tree with a tag saying ‘To me, from me xxxx’. It isn’t wildly expensive and is just a little luxury to say she values herself as much as anyone else! Genius I say.

So in a bid to encourage mums (and dads) to take a little more time for them now and again, here is my little list of things I LOVE to help you unwind!

Olverum Bath Oil

I love a bath (especially one that doesn’t involve a small person dropping plastic toys into the water or teenagers picking that exact moment when you sink into the warm water to ‘need‘ the next three hours in the bathroom!

Olverum – Winner of Tatler Beauty Awards 2018 – ‘Best Bath Oil’ is a highly concentrated, therapeutic bath oil which contains 10 pure essential oils, carefully blended to work together. An Olverum bath is a very effective way to naturally relieve ¬†stress and help you achieve a great nights’ sleep. It is also a great way to ease aching or sore muscles. You really do only need a few drops of this amazing stuff in a bath to make it smell incredible – add in a few candles and a glass of fizz and I challenge you not to feel better when you step out of the bath. The scent is unisex too so a perfect gift for any over-worked family member.

Pamper yourself with these natural skincare products from Amphora Aromatics

We first discovered Amphora Aromatics back in the summer when we took their festival pack and gave it a thorough testing on the festival circut. We haven’t looked back. My daughter who has troublesome tweenager skin loves the products as they are natural and smell incredible. My personal favourite is their Jasmine and Mimosa and Rosehip face cream. My tired out skin is super sensitive and this stuff works a treat. It moisturises brilliantly and I smell like I have just stepped out of a provencal garden – perfection.

Mindfulness in a jar

Next up is this lovely Mindfulness Kit. If like me you are prone to grumbling on about how much you have to do every day, then this little kit is great for reminding you of all the precious things that have happened to you every day – no matter how small. With lots of little challenges, reminders and ideas, this kit will set you on your way to living a more mindful life.

Look after your self and the planet with these super all natural deodorants from Elsa’s.

I first tried these out for my tween daughter who loves the cute little tins and bamboo spatula. They work a treat, look darling and make the perfect stocking filler. I love all a manner of beauty products but am very conscious of the impact we have on the planet at the same time – these little tins of loveliness keep you smelling fabulous (however stressed you get) and are good for the planet at the same time!

Light a candle

If you need a candle to turn your Oliverum bath into bathtime heaven then my absolute fave this year is the amazingly priced Lime Basil and Mandarin candle from Aldi! I need no encouragement to promote this product as I have over-indulged on this scent all year with the candles and the room sprays! It smells expensive, looks the part and only costs a few pounds. Lovely!
