Do you want to make your kids Christmas magical? It’s all about The Snowman

Do you want to see a snowman? The Snowman Tour?

I usually don’t start talking about Christmas until after October half term…but for some reason, this year, I’m already excited. I think it might be down to the fact that we have had such a long wonderful summer…if we could now just launch into mid-December with a good covering of snow that would suit me just fine!

Traditions

In most families, the things that make Christmas so special and magical are the family traditions. Stirring the Christmas cake mixture and making a wish, mince pies left out for Father Christmas, stockings on the fireplace (or in our house left out on the toybox), the rustle of an overstuffed stocking on Christmas morning and a squeal as you open the sitting room door to discover that the magical man himself really has been. But in our house, Christmas doesn’t really start until the lilting voice of a young Aled Jones wafts through the air and takes you on a journey of childhood adventure – yes, I’m talking about ‘The Snowman’.

Every single year since I can remember, first me and my brother and now with my own children, we sit down in our PJs in front of the fire to watch The Snowman. But this year….oh I’m so excited…we’re off to see the Snowman Tour Live in Sheffield. The magic of the wonderful film will be brought to life with a live orchestra and the iconic ‘Walking in the air’ solo will be performed by a young local soloist. I hear that the ‘actual real life snowman’ will make an appearance too! I feel like I’m five again..

The Snowman Tour – coming to a location near you

This year the tour will be visiting 16 UK venues including seven cathedrals  (Blackburn, Chester, Durham, Gloucester, Lichfield, Liverpool and Winchester) so you are bound to be able to find a local venue. We have watched the preview over and over and over again and are counting down the days. Did I say we are going to a performance in Sheffield…did I tell you how excited I am…?
