Wondering what to buy a foodie family for Christmas – well look no further.
We are a full-on foodie family! We all love cooking, eating, eating out and trying new foods. There is always a foodie item on everybody’s Christmas list in this house. Here we share some of our favourites – many of the items shared below are from small brands or new ventures. That saying ‘when you buy from a small brand, someone does a happy dance’ is so true and we love to support small businesses where we can.
You will notice that there is a real lean towards subscription box gifts – I’m so in love with this idea as it is ‘the gift that keeps on giving’ – the recipient will be reminded of your awesome generosity and thoughtfulness for months after Christmas Day! Win- Win.
A present for the impossible-to-by-for man in your life!
My husband is soooo difficult to buy for. You can’t buy him music, he is super picky about clothes, he likes mountain biking (in sunny weather and with a fair wind) but bits for those bikes are insanely expensive and he isn’t a big reader. What he does like however is whisky and preferably a single malt. Over the years I have pretty much exhausted the offerings of the supermarkets and even many of the local liquor shops so I was super excited to come across the Summerton Club.
Set up by Daniel Humphrey who wanted to send his father a special gift of an exclusive aged spirit on a monthly basis but couldn’t find a service offering this in the UK – Dan now offers a very special and unique monthly subscription club which sends out a rare, hard to find (often unavailable to the UK market) speciality spirits straight to your recipient’s door.
We have tried a Swedish Whisky (even my whisky obsessed husband didn’t know they did such a thing) from a small distiller. It tastes amazing, looks incredible and arrived in perfect condition.
Do you know someone that would LOVE this gift? Use the code WILD5 to get £5 off the first month subscription (equivalent to 10% off the first month). This code is valid until 28th February 2019
Get someone baking with this brilliant subscription baking box!
We all have that one friend who would ‘love to bake more but doesn’t have all the ingredients’ right?
Well give them no further excuse with this fabulous idea from BakedIn. This baking club sends out beautifully packed boxes filled with all the key ingredients to make a Bake-Off worthy bake. OK so the recipient might need to add an egg or two and some butter but really – that is no excuse. Subscriptions are available on a 3, 6 or 12 month basis and start at just £25! We made the delicious Whoopie Pies (something I have been meaning to make for years but never got around to it – they tasted incredible, were super easy to make and the kids loved the whole experience!). Head over to instagram to check out our results!
Add a little spice to someone’s life
Now I’m addicted to cooking with spices, herbs, oils and have kitchen cupboards rammed with spice jars, but I know only too well that most people don’t. If you have a friend who loves a bit of heat, wants to try something different every now and again and wants their ingredients to come from one of the most respected spice purveyors around then you need to check out the subscription box from Seasoned Pioneers
The Spice Pioneer monthly subscription meal kits make the perfect present for foodies this Christmas. Each month through your letter box you receive a pack containing the finest spices and more, easy to follow instructions, a shopping list and even a music playlist, to enable you to make authentic dishes from around the world and create an evening to remember.
This year, Spice Pioneer members have enjoyed creating the finest Spanish paella, the best Jamaican Jerk Chicken with Pineapple Rice, a fragrant spicy Thai meal of coconut soup, followed by Prawn Penang and Sticky Rice and many more meals besides.
With gift packages starting from £27 for a three-month subscription, The Spice Pioneer boxes can be ordered online to any UK address, making it effortless to send gifts to long distance friends and family. Or why not treat yourself and enjoy a culinary journey with your friends and family.
Make your own Craft Beer – how cool is that!
With craft beers going head-to-head with gin as the favourite tipple of the year, why not give someone the ultimate craft beer experience and enable them to brew their own! Long gone are the old-fashioned sticky-gloop-in-a-tin kits that my dad used to make. Home Brewtique have gone out on a very exciting limb and developed kits containing all you need to make your very own all-grain beers!
Their all-grain small batch homebrewing kits come beautifully packaged and make the perfect gift for Christmas, allowing any beer-lover or creative cook to brew their own beers just like a brewery – but in much smaller batch sizes and from the comfort of their own home.
All Christmas PRE-ORDERS will include a complimentary Christmas card & Beer Tasting Guide and be delivered during the first week of December. Place your order by 15 November and get an Early Bird discount of 10%.
Make the prettiest teacher gifts around!
I have to say that when my mum sent me an embossed rolling pin last year and I nearly knocked over the postman in my excitement at the very idea of opening the parcel – my whole family (mum included) thought I had lost the plot!
It is just as cool as I thought though and this year they come in even better designs. In the spirit of shopping with small businesses, why not take a look on etsy.com – this lovely seller even makes personalised ones.
Some of the products mentioned in this gift guide were gifted to me to try – all opinions are my own!
